This was an easy book to understand. He dreams every year that some great player will transfer to the high school and give his team the boost they need. Sometimes de Waal's argument is directly contradictory with well-known results in the literature, and we will just have to wait for the experts to come to agreement. James Howe here makes his first major departure from the Bunnicula series, and he manages to up his game while still entertaining his young readers.

The Bunnicula trilogy relies almost entirely on slapstick comedy, tired vampire cliches, and plot points that are telegraphed from a mile away. They just happen to meet at a local coffee shop and become friends. By looking frightful and skeletal we are simultaneously pushing people away in a most destructive, passive-aggressive way, and challenging those we love to accept us and to fight for us, regardless.Food becomes symbolic of that which we can't control but must, that which we absolutely need but absolutely rej
