New. Excellent condition.

I recommend it.. Avis defines modernity in relation to the project of analytical philosophy at the turn of the 20th century, particularly that of logical positivism. This is a complaint I have on Brad Taylor's books. Thus, for Avis, one can not say `God is love' in any literal sense, but as a metaphor, `God is love' is a powerful symbol of the Christian faith, which reminds us of the centrality of love to Christianity. In this sense, Avis is clearly an advocate of Tillich's symbolic theology and this book can be seen as an ambiguous extension of Tillich. (He is also fair in his assessments of the positions of those with whom he disagrees.)

Like all the commentaries in the WBC series, there is a significant amount of technical material in the commentary itself. The basic new-Keynesian model as well as a few extensions are covered in just 224 small pages. For a relaxing and, at times, thought-provoking read, I recommend Grace and Maggie Across the Pond.. Excellent & perfect!.
