Editorial : From Booklist Gr. 6-9. From the Great Minds of Science series, this volume provides a well-organized, accessible introduction to seventeenth-century chemist Robert Boyle. One of the founders of the Royal Society, Boyle contributed to science not only through his discoveries, such as Boyle's Law (relating air pressure to volume), but also in developing the method of experimentation that enabled him to make those discoveries. With plenty of white space in the margins and between lines, the page layout contributes to the book's readability. Among the black-and-white illustrations are many reproductions of period paintings and engravings as well as photos of historical sites. Appendixes include a chronology, source notes, a glossary, brief lists of books and Internet sites, and suggested science activities related to Boyle's Law, air pressure, and invisible ink. Another recent addition to the series spotlights Stephen Hawking. Carolyn PhelanCopyright © American Library Assoc
